Obituary of Marie Higginson

Marie Higginson (née McIntyre)
October 10, 1950 – December 1, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Higginson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, on Sunday December 1, 2024, at the age of 74. Marie passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born on October 10, 1950, to Hector and Lorena (Arnold) McIntyre, both of whom predeceased her. She was the loving sister of Dianne Runnalls, Muriel Stewart, and Grant McIntyre.

Marie was the cherished wife of Ernie Higginson, devoted mother to Janet Cutler (Chandler) and Emily Higginson (Michael Mopas), and proud grandmother to Penelope, Lorelei, and Felicity. Her family was her greatest joy, and she spent countless cherished moments with them.

Marie was known for her loyalty, caring nature and unwavering consideration for others. She brought warmth and kindness into every interaction and found simple pleasures in life, like sharing a coffee with friends or creating memories with her family.

A visitation to celebrate Marie's life will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home 151 Bond Street Vankleek Hill on Friday December 13, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Another celebration of life will be arranged in Dundalk at a later date.

The family kindly requests that donations be made in Marie's honor to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Martintown Mill Preservation Society.

Marie’s legacy of love, compassion, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A Tree of Remembrance will be planted in memory of Marie in the McAlpine Forever Forest, Vankleek Hill.
