Hillcrest Funeral home has purchased a Tommy Soldier Statue from England. It will be permanently installed at the Vankleek Hill Cenotaph. Not only is it a beautiful addition to the park but the funds raised will go directly to two charities., True patriot Love and The Invictus Games.
Mark and Lisa Henderson hope this statue will remain here for many years and will offer comfort for all that visit the park.
This life size Soldier Silhouette is a fitting tribute to the fallen of World War One while also raising awareness of today's Veterans. It is made from Cor-ten steel, and is built to rust naturally over time. The aim of this project is to commemorate the fallen, to educate all generations, particularly younger generations to understand what lead to the deaths of so many. To help heal those suffering from hidden wounds of post traumatic stress disorder and other lasting legacies of combat.
This is just one of many Tommies that have been installed all across Canada and we are very proud and honoured to bring this Tommy to Vankleek Hill to commemorate our fallen veteran's. Please click here for more information on this world wide project.
