Condolences
In gratitude to Marie for a lifetime of memories, I dedicate this poem to my cherished friend. With her extraordinary loyalty, Marie gave me unwavering support for my creative efforts. I hope the following concept brings comfort to her family and friends. It came to me one night in a dream. I titled it:
Red Carpet of Love
There is a beautiful carpet
stitched with love
that weaves through the world
from heaven above,
sprinkled with tears,
every stain scrubbed clean
by the brush of forgiveness
and memories and dreams.
From all directions
the carpet extends
to keep us connected
with family and friends
who’ve gone on before us
to view a new day,
but in spirit they’ll guide us
along life’s way.
So walk the red carpet
from morning ‘til night,
then rest in the knowledge
that faith shines a light
on the God-given promise
we’re never alone,
for love will walk with us
on the long journey home.
Until we meet again on some distant shore, Marie,
I will treasure our friendship forever. Sharon Sinclair

Pattie and I will always have very fond memories of our dear friend Marie. Her kind heart and giving nature to the community was at the core of Marie. Her contribution and commitment to the preservation of Martintown Mill was considerable. On a personal note, I will always remember the annual plum chutney and jam she made from the plum trees on our property. Marie will be greatly missed and our deepest condolences to Ernie and the Higginson family

I have treasured Marie as a friend since our days at Glendon College so many decades ago. Her genuine warmth, ready smile, profound wit, and caring nature drew me into the circle of friends that has persisted through all our life events. Though my travels soon took me far away, I was blessed to get back to reconnect with her from time to time. She shared the hospitality of her home, the joy she found in her loving husband and delightful daughters, and the selfless commitment she had to her community. We Glendon Girls were fortunate to visit together more in recent years, especially this past May. Much laughter, many memories, and sincere caring were always present when Marie was with us. She radiated pride in her granddaughters, lovingly shared photos of family life, and most importantly reminded us all that she valued each one of us deeply. She leaves a remarkable legacy that will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She will never be forgotten. May her family and friends find comfort in memories of her unwavering spirit and kind heart. With my sincerest sympathy.
