Dear Yvette, Helene, Paul, Annette and Julie, I was sorry to hear of Gerard's passing. You all and your store were part of what made for such positive memories growing up in the Dalkeith area and going to school at SS # 4. Great memories of walking home from school in the wintertime dusk and cold and pressing our little noses against your beautifully decorated Christmas display windows. How our hopes soared for what Santa might bring us! -Going next doors past Hattie MacLeod's house, for 5 cent and 6 cent ice cream cones or 5 cent bags of potato chips when Mom was short on hand for sending us with dessert for lunch. Buying a 25 cent cup and saucer for Mom with Christmas or birthday money! Brand new! Something with my own money for Mom! I just about burst with excitement walking home and anticipating her response. So thanks for the memories. You folks were so gracious and kind and accepting. This is a very sad occasion, my heart goes out to his family. Mr and Mrs Goulet and their wonderful employees were one of the very first members of the Dalkeith community to welcome me when I first arrived in 1979. Their grocery store was always on the move and filled with welcoming smiles and laughter for everyone who entered. This photo of Mr Goulet truly shows his great warmth and care for so many others over the years and I now send my strength to you with all my heart in your time of need.
