Condolences
Chere Celine,
Though I have seen you only in
Little packets of time stretched
Over decades
I have this picture when I think of you
And it is this
Your smile: it just lights up the room
I saw you first in mother's skirts
A farm girl wise in kitchen and the barn
You hurled bales - better than me
And a laugh that made light
Of the load
Then I saw you as young lady
Pert and pretty, now sous-chef
Lucille's cooking skills adopted
Serving banquets made with heart
And laughter used as spices
I remember too your kindness
Sending cards to persons hurting
Raising spirits of my father
So distant
And endearing him to you
Years go by, we've left the country
Life's joys and troubles come to visit
You endure these times of turmoil
With your gift - -
That smile shone through
We'd chat at times about
Some nonsense
You'd look at me with head just tilted
"Yeah, that's right" you'd say
With wryness
And your laugh bursts forth and catches me
- - - - - -
And I am lifted lightened by a smile
That I will not forget
With much love,
Ian and Pierrette
(And Neal and Ashley, Alistair and Angela)
Celine, ma chere petite soeur, I will always remember your lovely smile and warm brown eyes, your kind heart and wonderful strength of character.
I much appreciated your help for Maman around the house and especially in the kitchen putting on a big feast when the family was visiting. Your chocolate cake was the piece de resistance !
And on the farm, you were a better driver of the John Deere than me !
Ian and I were always happy to bring our friends down to the farm and then Derby Street knowing we were all in for a special treat.
We had a lot of laughs together in those days.
You often sent us gifts and cards that were so kind and your care and devotion shown to our two boys was very loving
And finally chere Celine you have shown so much courage against adversity and I do wish life could have been easier for you.
You will always be in my heart.
With much love,
Pierrette
and Ian, Neal and Ashley, Alistair and Angela
