Condolences
My sincere condolences to Gail and family. Gerry was a kind sole and a "stand up guy" who will be greatly missed.
Dear Gail and the boys, I am so sorry for your loss.
One of the fondest memory of Gerry was when the family visited us at Pine Lodge in Bristol, QC. Some of the family stayed and "pitched" their trailers there. Gerry and family stayed with Pete and I at the cottage. This was one of the funniest monents of that fantastic visit.
While I was watching Wayne & Silvia, Lori & Phil start to put their trailers up I noticed garbage bags hanging on the poles. I had asked the owner why was that? He said they hang up the garbage on hooks so as the racoons don't get into them. He said the garbage man was going to come by soon so if there was any garbage that was needed to be put out ... do it soon.
It had been raining so things were a bit damp. I noticed a blue truck coming up the lane with "garbage bags" in the back of it. I yelled "the garbage man is here!" Then the door of the truck opened and out came Gerry and Gail and the kids. WELL ! Let me tell you! We just roared. Between my sister's laugh and mine, combined with everyone elses... I almost had to change my underwear.
Then I had the priviledge of videoing chatting with Gerry and Gail over the New Year... and guess what he said "The Garbage Man is here" ...
That moment I will cherish forever !
There were many moments of that beautiful visit that I will cherish but this one sticks out the most !
Sorry to learn you have left us and for all those left behind. We will all meet again , we just have to wait and see. Grant and Don from the "St.Prime" days.
This got lost the first time around so here we go again. I remember telling Gerry that his long bushy eyebrows were because of the diabetes he had, and that if I sat on him, Gail could trim them to a more attractive length. Since he didn't run away I guess he wasn't afraid of me.
I remember him telling me of his conversation with Graham, I think 3 at the time, telling him the relationships from grandfather to son, and Graham asking him, "Yeah, but what about when I was YOUR father?" , and really meaning it, bringing goosebumps to Gerry. We all were sure that both our dads were in heaven and organizing this match between Gail and Gerry.
I remember him cracking up at Mum's kitchen table the Thanksgiving I threw cranberry sauce at Gilles. (I still can't believe I did that!.) And you yelling: "Wait, I missed that! Do it again!"
We are a lucky family and Gerry fit right in with the silliness that we are. We were lucky to have him. I will miss him dreadfully.
Gail, so very sorry to hear of your loss. My sincere and deepest sympathies to you and your family.
