It was a shock to learn from Bill Byers yesterday that we had lost Don. To Bev and his family, I send my sincere condolences. Don was a fine man and a finer friend, whose association at Sun Life I enjoyed immensely, as did all of his peers. Don has left us far too soon, and will be well remembered. To Bev and his sons, I offer this line from Thomas Campbell's poem, "Hallowed Ground"; To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.". It is a fine thought and certainly fits Don Mahon beautifully. May the Good Lord bless you and your fine family, Don.

Dear Bev and family, So sorry to hear about your loss. Don was a extraordinary person that I had a lot of respect for. Don made a real difference in my life. He helped me get my first job with SunLife and we always stayed close. Don was a great mentor and good friend that taught me to aim high... “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.” Sometimes we never get a chance to tell our friends how special they are and what a difference they made in our lives. I'm really glad I had that chance to speak to Don a few months ago. We had a great talk about all the old times. He was always very interested in what I was doing and made a point of catching up by visiting me when I was back east. So many words describe Don...kind, caring, good humor, encouraging, passionate,fun loving but above all Don makes you believe in yourself, and see’s the potential in you and the endless possibilities to make a difference. The comfort of having a friend may be taken away, but not that of having had one. You may be gone but will always be in our hearts. I remember the game when my Dad Bill Pilon called Donavon out on strikes which got Donavon so worked up that he threw his bat up in the air and my Dad told him that when the bat comes back down you are ejected from the game.This was in the early 60's and with my Dad and Justin Burwash did the umpiring and Donavon always gave it his all along with all the other goods guys in his age group that us younger guys used to enjoy watching and especially when we got to play with them. May he rest in peace and my condolences to the family.

Mrs Mahon, Mark and Reid: It is with great sadness that I learned of Mr. Mahon's passing, a man for whom I had the utmost respect.
