Condolences
Thank you Family & Friends for your condolences and support in this extremely difficult moment.
I have written loving words in the Memory of my Sweet Father, in which i was unable to express today... Here it goes:
We Visited Dad These Past Few Months Several Times a Week.
At the Beginning There Was a Brief Moment He Was Sure to Lose the Battle,
But Through it All He Stayed Strong, We Gave Him Hope.
We Talked a Lot of The Good Times He Brought in Our Lifes:
The Drawings on His Back, The Playful Wrestling, The Camping Fun,
The Family Trips even those to Dairy Queen,
Visiting Family Members and His Love for Gardening.
Dad & Mom Volunteered at the Optimist Club,
Teaching His Family the Importance of Giving Back to Society.
The Importance of Celebrating Together as a Family.
Giving Us His Blessings.
He Liked Playing Cards and Bean Bags... but Most of All He Loved His Wife.
My Dearest Mom. (Looks Towards Mom)
So I Look Back at His Life & Memories, and Those Past Few Months I Spent With Him...
As He Lay in Bed, I Look Closely in His Eyes and Was About to Tell Him...
But He is Faster Then Me, and His Eyes Locks Into Mine, He Says: 'Je t'aime'.
As I Leave The Hospital Room, I Look Over At Him.
A Single Tear Rolls Down My Cheek.
I Think this Time It's True! I am Losing The Very First Men Who Loved Me Unconditionaly.
I Love Him, But I Love Him More Then Ever This Day.
So I Look at Him & Blow a Kiss His Way.
He Has Been The Provider Through All The Struggle & Strife.
Sweet & Loving. Patient & Wise.
I Miss My Daddy Everyday.
I Never Realised How Much He Gave to Me & How Much He Loved Me.
In That Instant I Remembered Every Loving Word & Look; That I Have Taken For Granted.
Wished I Hadn't Waited So Long To Tell Him 'How Much I Love Him, How Proud of Him I am
& How Much of an Honor It is To be His Daughter.
I LOVE YOU DAD I LOVE YOU MOM (Looks Towards Mom)
Lisette St Louis, Your Eldest Daughter of Three Children.
The first time I met Mr. St Louis he had me sit in front of him. He stared at me from head to toe then asked, "Do you have a job"? to which I replied I did. He paused and again stared at me from head to toe and asked, " Do you have a car"? I replied I didn't. He made a "Hum" and paused again. This started to make me feel worried . Then he asked, "Do you have your driver's licence"? I answered I once had it but being from Montreal it was something I didn't need all these years. Again he paused, looked at me from head to toe and asked, "So, what are you going to do now that you're here"? Now I felt very intimidated but I told him I was to get these back as it was needed here. He didn't add anything more and invited me to have supper.
Although there clearly was a world of difference between him and I, him from the country side and I from the big city, him a hard working physical man and I a liberal worker, he never made me feel aside, on the contrary. Maybe that's why, when we visited, he very strongly insisted I play cards with him (although knowing I hated card playing)!
These last four years we took care at home of my very disabled and incapacitated mother who past away at the end of January. As she needed 24/7 attention we could not visit Mr. St Louis. Never the less, when we visited him at the hospital in the last two months, even if gossip had been stirred around him these past years, he always showed appreciation for our visits without ever mentionning anything that could make us feel awkward. When at first he would say he was a finished man and we would reply, full of hope, that with great care he still had some time he would smile to us as if we might be right and continued to show optimism. I even think he made sure to eat all the chicken stew I made especially for him not only because he was happy to have a homemade meal but also to show his appreciation towards me.
These are only a few examples but there are many others I could give on how and why I believe he was a true gentleman. He might not have been a judge nor a minister but never have I called him by his first name because I believe he was also worth such respect being the gentleman he was.
What I have seen and heard from Mr. St Louis makes me certain he dearly loved his wife. We should all learn from the good he has shown us. Because I strongly believe that when you decease you are still alive somehow and present among us this is to you Mr. St Louis: Although I will never be able to fit in your shoes I promise to try my hardest to follow your footsteps and take as much care as I can of your daughter Lisette.
