To Beverly and family.
Jan and I send our sincerest condolences to all who knew and loved Gus. We first met Gus on Island 86 in the Big Rideau where he worked on maintenance of the Bauer cottage. Carl and Marie Bauer loved him for his work ethic, his carpentry skills and all around Jack of all trades abilities. We came to thoroughly enjoy his friendliness, great sense of humour and his dogs who he loved dearly. Jan and I came to depend on him for his annual report during the winter on how safe the ice on the lake was for our annual winter holiday at our cottage on the island and his annual prediction of when the ice on the lake would go out in the spring permitting us to open the cottage as early as possible. When he and Bev moved to Van Leek Hill area in retirement we had the pleasure of visiting them for a day and experience the pride Gus took in his family, the land, his horses, his buggies and carriages and the outbuildings he had built on the property. Gus and Bev’s hospitality extended to our granddaughters and us that visit was simply marvellous.
Be assured he was one of a kind and he will be missed!
Our most sincere condolences to you Peggy and all the family
I am so sad. I love your Dad. My most sincere condolences to you Peggy and all the family. Big hugs to everyone and to you Bev. My thoughts are with you. Memories of your Dad keep popping up in my mind.
It is with sadness that I heard of the death of Angus "Gus" McDonald, truly a great man, a fantastic next door neighbor for years in Portland and a kind and considerate gentleman to his friends and family. "Gus" built his own home, helped me with so many things at my house, and always was willing to lend a hand and get the job done. Worked seemed fun for Gus and there was always time for a friend. At this sad time, I wish to send my condolences to Beverly and the family. We have lost truly a great man.
