I met Mr. Caban though a family friend when I was 16 and studying electronic in high school. He was instrumental in my getting interested in avionics and aviation in general. I went on to work at CAE, later become an audio tech and spent over 40 years at Pratt & Whitney Canada.
Bill was a true pioneer in his field of expertise and an extremely knowledgeable person.
My sincerest condolences to his entire family and friends. Thank You and Rest in Peace, Sir.
Bill,
I never had the pleasure of meeting your dad. On the morning you called me, i indicated that you were extremely fortunate to have had your dad for 101 years. Few of us have had our dad this long. And from what i read , he lived a long and productive life. My condolences to all members of your family.
My sincere condolences in your loss, He had a full life, May he rest in peace ....
Sincere condolences to you and your Bill. My thoughts are with you

Bill, my sincere condolences to you and your family. I remember the old time stories about your dad when I started flying in the early 70's in St Lazare. He sure had long and good life. RIP

My deepest sympathy to the Caban family, I truly enjoyed chatting with your Mom and Dad when he would come to the hospital for his blood test, He hated those tests and his feet would move constantly until the needle was out of his arm. I would talk to him about his windmill that he built and about Czechoslovakia because My Grand father John Polnicky also came over to Canada when he was 8 yrs old. He was always a pleasant patient to chat with. God Bless
Sinceres condolences to Dianne and the family. France and Christiane Bélanger
Dear Caban, family our heart felt condolences go out to all the family, the general Aviation Industry has lost a great innovator, his contribution to this sector of activity was significant, I have known Bill for over 20 years, some of those years were flying co-pilot, in his Cessna 206 boy I got the heights of hell from him when I wasn’t doing things right? He was sure to let me know! He was hard, and very demanding, no less than perfection was acceptable by his standard! I respected that enormously, as I taught me right! After all being several hundred miles away from any immediate help there was no room for mistakes he made sure that was carved in my brain, and rightfully so! We both enjoyed our company, Bill, would always bring up the stories of his time during WW2 how difficult it was growing up when there wasn’t a lot of money, uncertainty about where and what you were going to eat ? I understand how time and experience has molded bill into the person he was life growing up during his time was tough, no one gave you anything, you had to work, and work, hard to feed your family, he did just that!
He survived the horrors of ww2 ,Ferry Command, remote flying in sparsely settled areas, raised a wonderful family and made sure he looked after them! Bill thank you for being a friend, and being very critical about how certain things need to be done! This taught me a great deal may you rest in Peace, and God Bless you !❤️
