Obituary of Mary Josephine Hudson

HUDSON, Mary (née Cheasty) February 19,1924-December 27,2016 Suddenly, on Tuesday December 27, 2016, Mary Hudson of Vankleek Hill, Ontario passed away at the age of 92, shortly after arriving at the Hawkesbury General Hospital. Her son Michael was fortunately able to be with her during her last few hours. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Charlie) in 1985 and leaves her five children, Jill and her husband, John Dakers, her son Mike and his wife Mich, daughter Ann Mason & Barb, Geoff & Sofi Hudson, and Jane and Scott Patterson and of course her "adopted" daughter who spoiled her daily, her wonderful neighbour Sandra Robinson. Grandma will also be missed by her twelve wonderful grandchildren; Barclay Bertin (Natalie) & Shelly Bertin (Zac); Melissa Hudson (Stephan) and Carl (Ali) Hudson; Jessica, Sheena, and Kayla Mason; Sheryn and Jenna Hudson, and Mark, Craig, and Steve Patterson. Mary also had 4 beautiful great grandchildren, Zach, Lucy, Sammy, and Charlie Bertin. Mary was born on February 19,1924 in Co. Waterford, Ireland to William & Catherine Cheasty. She & Charlie met in Ireland during the war and married in 1945. Charlie was with the RCAF and Mary was a WAAF. She came to Canada as a war bride in 1946. There are two surviving sisters, Anne and Annice, both in Ireland. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Tom and Geoffrey, as well as her sisters, Phyllis, Biddy, Peggy, and Eileen. Many nieces and nephews throughout Ireland and Canada are also left to mourn their aunt's passing. A Memorial Service/Irish Wake will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club 136 Bond Street, Vankleek Hill where Mary was a member many years ago. A Private Family Service was held at the Hillcrest Funeral Home, Vankleek Hill. In memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society 837 Pitt Street, Unit # 1 Cornwall, Ontario K6J 3S5 or St. Grégoire Catholic Church 137 Higginson Street, P.O.
