Obituary of Ian Richard Marston

Peacefully at the Carveth Care Centre, Gananoque on Friday, December 2,2022 Ian Marston of Vankleek Hill formerly of Cassburn passed away at the age of 95. Predeceased by his parents Clair Marston and Hanna Begg. Beloved husband of 69 years to Ella (nee McIlwain). Proud and loving father of Sydney of Mallorytown, Ontario, Elaine Richards (Bob) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Kevin (Jill) of Comox, British Columbia. Dearly loved grandfather of Kim, Jenna, Tyler, Elisha, Belinda, and Emily. Fond great-grandfather of Julie, Katherine, Layne, Kylie, Clair, Kate, and Benjamin. Predeceased by his siblings Lillian Fraser, Ruth Hodge, and Jean Albright. Ian was born on the Marston family farm in Cassburn, near L'Orignal. He was a proud farmer, he also owned a school bus, served on Township Council and was the Caretaker of Cassburn Cemetery for many years. He was an avid wood worker and was always eager to lend a helping hand.

After retiring, Ian and Ella moved to Vankleek Hill and loved travelling to both the east coast and the west coast to visit their faraway children and grandchildren. They made many trips in both directions with their camper. In 2020, they moved into assisted living in Brockville.

 

A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Spring at Cassburn Cemetery.
