Obituary of Desmond Robinson

Surrounded by family at the age of 90, Desmond James Robinson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Hawkesbury General Hospital.  Born June 25th, 1931, Des is the son of the late Leslie and Marguerite Robinson (nee O’Donnell), and the loving, attentive husband of Sheila (nee Clark) for 60 years. Cherished father to Anna Marie (Garrett McGillis), James (Jane Scott).  Waiting on the other side for their father, is daughter Rhonda and James’s twin brother, John.

Poppa Des was an amazing Grandfather to Clark McGillis (Monica), Sam McGillis (Jessica), Aidan McGillis (Jordan), Hailey (Ethan) and Kyle.

Des leaves behind his brother Jack (late Mary) and sister Betty (Ronnie Seguin).  Predeceased by brothers, Loyola, Dennis (Doris), Allie (Colleen), Bernard, Gerard and sisters, Marina (Alfred) and Catherine.  Des will be sadly missed by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and family friends.

Des was born just outside Plantagenet on the family farm.  At age 17, along with his identical twin Dennis, he joined Ontario Hydro as a Powerline Maintainer.  They both retired the same day 40+ years later.  Des’ retirement years were spent helping and caring for his family.

Due current circumstances, a small private celebration for family & friends will be held at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club on Saturday November 6th, 2021.  A private burial will be held at a later date.

Special thank you to Nurse Whitney and all the Staff at HGH, Kim from Under Your Roof Senior Care, and all friends, family, and neighbours who have helped him over the years.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Des, please consider donating to the new HGH Ophthalmology Clinic that has shared his Macular Degeneration story as part of their fundraising campaign to bring eye care services to our local area.
