Condolences
My sympathies to the LeRoy family. Regards Beth Higginson
A child sits at the top of the stairs,
Unseen,
Listening,
To the voices below in conversation,
Because there was always so much conversation around the kitchen table
And laughter
And those sounds brought comfort to that child,
Who did not want to leave the house she called home
The brick house on the farm
That never changed
Because she never changed - Grandma
With favorite pies baked
Walks to feed the cats
Or across the street to set the altar,
St. Albert's cheese, fresh honey and heavenly jam
Countless unread novels
A garden full of fresh peas and carrots
Flowers to water
A warm bed during a summer thunderstorm
Trips to the hill where everyone knew her name
Clover adventures traveling back to the creek
A lazy morning under the willow tree
General hospital in the afternoon
Radio playing in the corner
The table set with an extra chair
Should someone come to the door during dinner
But she rarely sat down
Always taking care of everyone first
And that never changed.
When the child grew and joined the conversations around the kitchen table
There was still so much laughter
And comfort in the stories shared
A trip into the yard
As Grandma waited on the porch
Of the brick house on the farm
Home.

The LeRoy family: Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
Just after we had finished building our house in 2005, I took my mother (Barbara) and father (Bill) to visit Aunt Doris. She suggested that I must need plants and before I knew it, she had the shovel out and a couple of boxes for me to split some of her plants. As I started digging, she kept directing me to more and more areas. I am glad that I had a large trunk space, as I left with an abundance of hostas and phlox, as well as some perennials that I still have not identified! They all continue to flourish in my garden beds today, and I have shared their offspring with my children and friends.
I also remember that everytime we visited Aunt Doris, she always had a cake in the oven, just about ready to eat...she was a wonderful lady.
With Love,
Julie

Please accept our sympathies in the loss of Doris. She was such a kind lady. I can't remember when I met Doris but we always had a great visit. Last fall, I met her at Mike Deans and she told me she was in the Heritage Lodge. A couple of weeks ago, I happened to go by her door and stopped in for a short visit. So glad I did.
