Obituary of Euolene Florence Barnes

Barnes, Euolene Florence (nee Albright) RNA., Passed peacefully to her eternal rest on Sunday August 21, 2016 at the Palace Long Term Care Residence in Alexandria, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents, Gordon Albright and Hazel Allen, beloved husband Thomas W. Barnes, her brothers Sturgess and Myles Albright and her sister Theda Masterman. She is mourned by her twin sister Leona Stevens, several sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Aunt Euolene, fondly known as Deanie, lavished her affection on her goddaughters, Cheryl Robertson of Kemptville, Ontario and Dallas Barnes of Ottawa, Ontario. Predeceased by her nephew Jeffrey Stevens. She is especially remembered in life, and her death, by Sylvia Milne(Doug) of Ottawa and her godson Darwin Stevens (Susan) of Greely, Ontario. Born on July 17, 1930, in St Eugene, Ontario, Euolene grew up on the family farm and eventually moved to Hawkesbury where, at the Smith Clinic (now Hawkesbury General Hospital) she earned her RNA and pursued her nursing career until her retirement in 1992. Throughout those years, Euolene enjoyed her many interests, always her extended family first, her church, and the ACW, the L’Orignal Sunshine Club, the Women’s Guild in Hawkesbury, her bridge clubs, gardening and playing her piano. Euolene’s family is forever grateful for the care and companionship extended to her by the staff of the Heritage(Revera) Retirement Residence and latterly, the loving care, attention and compassion provided to her by Karen MacLeod and her nursing staff at Alexandria’s Palace (formerly Community Care) Long Term Care Residence. It is deeply appreciated. Family and friends may visit at Hillcrest Funeral Home 151 Bond Street, Vankleek Hill on Saturday September 10,2016 from 12:30 pm until time of Funeral Service at 2pm in the Funeral Home.
