Although I didn’t know Dr. Arenas well, I have been seeing her patients as a temporary doctor in Casselman for the past four months. I have witnessed the trepidation that so many of her patients have had when they are faced with someone unfamiliar : they have been used to the trusted and comforting presence of Dr. Arenas for so many years. They invariably have commented on her steadfastness and her frankness. They have also quoted her directly, clearly taking to heart her words, “Dr Arenas said I had the heart of a 20 year old,” said one patient in her 70’s. “Dr. Arenas said that I was a tough son of a « b » because of what I’ve been through and I should be in a wheelchair,” another said admiringly.

She was a physician who clearly loved her work and it was truly her life’s passion. My heart goes out to all who knew her and who will no doubt miss her deeply.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to all the family of Dr. Arenas. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a great Doctor and a great friend.

Dr Arenas has been my family doctor for about 15 years. I will always remember her frankness, good sense of humor and great knowledge. I had the priviledge of briefly chatting with her about he beauty of the Yukon before a travel up North. She told me how nice was canoeing in the wide-open natural spaces. No matter where she rests now, I hope that she has found a similar relief and comfort.

I am truly sorry to hear of her passing. She was not my physician, Dr. Lamarche was but I did see her on many occasions and she was very compassionate. My sincere sympathies to her family and friends.

Hi Jennifer and familly, I just saw the Shocking post about Dr.Arenas and her passing,I'm very shocked and sad to hear this ... but I am grateful that on Mother's Day I was at the same place has your mom , and when I saw her, I went closer to her to have chat with her .... I was so pleased to have a chat as it had it been a very long time that since I've seen her .All I can say is that, Dr Arenas was dedicated and compassionate towards her patient and also to her medical staff. I am very sad to hear about the news but very fortunate to have been on the same path as her, my profession is RPN and to be part of her medical team. She did a lot for the people in Casselman, Ontario, I did met her when my MOM Lucille Labelle was not feeling very good some time in 2008, 2009 and died in 2012 at the age of 89 years old.

She was very good for elder persons! Always there to help them and encourage them.

Your mom/sister/grandmother was what I considered a very talented friend/DR. She never ever rush me when we had an appointment and never did an appointment go by without us talking about how proud she was of you children.

I am very saddened by her passing but know she's at peace.
