Condolences
I have just heard about the passing of Katarina, she was such a wonderful lady. The world is a sad place without her. Paul and George I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am not to see her one more time. Both her and Helen shall be missed. If you get a chance please drop me an email.
Katarina was one of the most amazing women I have ever had the privilege to have in my life. She was a strong and beautiful woman who taught me so many things in life . She was always so happy and smiling no matter what, and I will always remember her that way. My granny was the definition of hard work, always putting others before herself. Every day she would tell my siblings and I how proud she was of us no matter what, and constantly instilled the most positive patronage of the three of us. I have the fondest memories on the farm whether it be helping in kitchen, causing mayhem with my brothers across the property, or running to my uncles house down the road. That farm house still is to this day my favorite place in the world. I have never felt more loved by any other person in the world than by Katarina, my granny. She loved us more than anything in the world and was constantly telling us this, and trying to feed us haha. Because of her I had the best mother I could ever imagine, even for an unfortunately short time. It was always so special to me that my brothers and I got to stay in the childhood rooms of her and her brothers. I love her and miss her so much. I know as I grew older I had not seen or talked to her nearly as much as I wish I did now. It hurts me to know I will never be able to take that time back but I will always know that she still loved me no matter what. I just aspire to be a women like she was. No matter what hardships life handed her she always put her family first and always provided for them and made sure they knew how much she loved them. Its very rare to find someone in this world like this extraordinary women. I know she will always be looking down on me and I pray I can be half the woman she was. I love you granny. My thoughts and prayers are forever with the rest of my family and I hope to see you soon.
My condolences to the families. I have MANY fond memories of being on the farm with my buddies; Paul & George and their sister Helen. I never knew 'Eat, Eat`, was the same spoken in Ukrainien as in English until I meet Mrs Semlanoi. Also the time Mrs Semlanoi came out to help me load hay onto the conveyor to send it up to Paul & Gearge in the loft. A 60 yr old woman showing up a 30 yr `man`. A humbling experience. Everything about her will be missed. Rest peacefully Mrs. Semlanoi.
I met Katarina at Heritage Lodge where my parents are also residents. I was very lucky to spend time with her, and to hear Katarina's incredible story of coming to Canada in the post-WW2 years. She, like so many, suffered such great losses because of the war. Yet Katarina persevered and endured. And carried love and humour into her adult years. The loss of her daughter was a terrible pain. My last contact with Katarina was one evening at the Lodge. Her son George had visited. Katarina went to the door with him, and then stayed as he drove away in his truck. "I love you, I love you," she said quietly to him thru the door and into the growing distance. That was Katarina. I am very privileged to have met her. My deepest sympathy. Michelle
So sorry to hear about your Mom, thinking of you at this time.
I just learned of Katarina's passing and want to express my deepest sympathy. I knew Katarina at the Heritage Lodge and she was always cheerful and friendly. No matter what was going on in her life, she always asked how I was doing and was a very caring person. I remember her going for walks around the outside of the Lodge, in her bright sweater and with her cheerful smile. She will be greatly missed.
My deepest sympathy George to your family at this difficult time.
My deepest sympathy George I will remember your mom fondly, she had a great sense of humour and could easily make me smile!
