I will remember this past summer when she attended our 70th anniversary celebrations at which we were able to thank her for her many years of support. She will be missed.
To all the Cowans...... My first recollection of Ida was in their dining room while I took Scottish dancing lessons from Joan. She always had a warm welcome and big smile for everyone. Vankleek Hill has lost one of its long time residents and may she Rest In Peace. Our sympathies to all .

Please accept our sincere condolences. Ida will be fondly remembered by our family as “Post Office Grandma”
To the Cowan family, Ida was one of our favourite friends. Will miss her but i"m sure not as much as the family. She always made yo feel welcome and she had her can of cookies ready. I enjoyed a few of them in the last 2 weeks. Ida was always so interested in all the activities in the community and the church. She baffled me as she spoke about washing windows, raking leaves and clearing snow - almost right up to the end. God bless.
Life is full of memories and I have so many fond memories of Ida when I worked with her at the Post Office during the Christmas rush. What I remember most about Ida was her manner of always greeting people with a smile. She also was a dedicated employee implicated in my training, making sure I did a good job. She has left such a wonderful impression on everyone she has met over her 94 years. To the Cowan family, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

What a wonderfully inspiring lady ... so justifiably proud of her large and beautiful family. Ida had a gift of making everyone feel like a special friend, no matter where you were from. Even if you hadn't been in touch for a long time, each reunion was a joyful one. How we will all miss her. Deepest sympathies to the entire Cowan family during this sad time.
Ida was my first contact with Vankleek Hill when I moved there in 1974 as she welcomed me at the Post Office. She always had a kind word and pleasant smile and a positive outlook on life in general. My sincere condolences to all her family during this difficult time and wishes for this wonderful lady to rest in peace.
How comforting to know that Ida got her wish to die at home surrounded by her loving family that she so highly regarded. I will miss her wisdom and her wonderful, thoughtful outlook on life. We became good friends when she volunteered and visited her loving relatives at the Maxville Manor. Her wealth of knowledge of the area and the people will be missed. RIP Ida, a well deserved rest. With sincere sympathy to all the family from Barbara and Gary Newman.

To the entire Cowan family,so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Going down memory lane I have such good memories of your mother at the post office, she would know our name just by opening the door at the post office........then the years passed and we would see each other and still knowing my name she would make sure to ask how every one in my family was. May the good memories last forever.

Heartfelt condolences to Ida’s entire family. I have many fond memories of conversations shared with Ida when I was a boy living in Vankleek Hill and Ida was working at the post office. Many a time did I bother her to just “check” our mailbox again in case something had arrived late! She always obliged with kindness and a smile that was truly her own. May your good memories of great times shared bring you a measure of peace and comfort as you prepare to bid farewell to your Matriarch!
