Obituary of Bernardus Lodewijk Gerardus Antonius Rombouts

Bernardus Lodewijk Gerardus Antonius Rombouts, 75, of Curran, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2026.

Bernard was born on April 4, 1951, to Catrien Lemmerman and Leonardus Rombouts. He grew up in the Netherlands, where he developed his lifelong love of farming. Some of his happiest memories were spent on the farm with his good friend Aad. After finishing school, Bernard began working on farms, beginning a life devoted to agriculture.

At the age of 30, Bernard moved to Canada with his wife, Lia. Together, they built a life and started their own farm, where Bernard worked with the cows for many years. Farming was more than a career to Bernard—it was a way of life that brought him great pride and fulfillment. He was also actively involved with the Prescott-Russell milk committee. He continued working on the farm until his health eventually required him to slow down.

Bernard will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 47 years, Lia; his children, Mark (Sabine), Joyce, and Rick (Annie-Pier); and his grandchildren, Stephan, Liam, Laney, Felix, and Leo.

He was the oldest of eight brothers and sisters, all of whom live in the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his sister Coby.

A celebration of Bernard’s life will take place at a later date.
