Obituary of William Bill McMahon

In Hawkesbury, with his family by his side, Bill McMahon slipped quietly away on August 14th, 2025, at the age of 80.

Son of the late Harold McMahon and the late Pansy Proudlock. Bill leaves behind the love of his life , his wife of 58 years, Ingrid (née Elcus). Their marriage was filled with love, devotion, and together they built a family that was always Bill’s greatest pride.

He was a loving and proud father to Mark (Lisa), Jamie (Michelle), Chris (Valerie), and Karen(Len). He was predeceased by his son Ricky.

Bill will be lovingly remembered as “Grandpa” to Tyler (Cheyanne), Kristen (Matthew), Brooke, Morgan, Zackary, Abbey, Madyson, McKinley, and Bryden, and as “Opa” to Aubrey, Ava, Elliot, Carter, and Charlotte. He also leaves behind his sister Marion, his brother Gary (Kathy), and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Bill was known as one of the best farmers around — hardworking, dedicated, and kind. Quiet by nature, he found joy in the simple things: time with his family, the comfort of a good cigar, and the land he loved. Most often, he could be found in Arundel, in the cab of his tractor with a cigar in hand, watching over his cows or working in the fields he cared for so deeply. His strength, his work ethic, and his gentle heart will be remembered always.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at 2p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192, 70 du Village Street, Arundel, Quebec, to honour and remember Bill. In true Bill fashion, no suits are necessary- if you wish, please wear a plaid shirt in his honour, as it was what he loved to wear.

In memory of Bill, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.

He was deeply loved, and he will be missed more than words can ever say.

A Tree of Remembrance will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest of Vankleek Hill in Mr. McMahon's memory.
