Obituary of Claire Smith
Mrs. Claire Smith (née Sauvé) originally of Vankleek Hill, passed away after a long battle with COPD on Tuesday July 22nd, 2025, at the age of 67.
She was the loving wife of Barton, cherished mother to Guylaine (Gunther), Pascal (Sophie), Ashley (Justin) and Corey, adored grandmother to Natasha, James, Anna, Aiden, Avery, Liam, Charlotte, Wyatt, Emmett, Sawyer, Drew, Laurie and Julie Pier.
Claire was the dear sister of Rollande, Lise, Ginette, Fernande, Suzanne, Sylvie, Rolland and Gilles and is also lovingly remembered by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill Sauvé and Dolores Myre as well as her siblings: Diane, Denise, Lionel, Gerald and Yvon.
Claire was widely known for her exceptional cooking and baking. From her famous Chicken Brochette to her beloved desserts everything she made was crafted with love and enjoyed by all who were lucky enough to share a meal with her. In quieter moments, she found joy in quilting pouring love and time into every pattern she designed intricate and full of meaning, they were more than fabric, they were cherished gifts to her children and grandchildren and friends
Strong, kind, and spirited, Claire was a social butterfly who loved staying up-to-date with current events and sharing thoughtful conversations with friends and family. Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Claire's life on Sunday, October 12th, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hawkesbury Legion, 152 Nelson Street East. Hawkesbury, Ontario.
