Obituary of David Fraser

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of David William Fraser, beloved husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Ottawa General Hospital on June 4, 2025 at the age of 83.

David was the cherished husband of the late Ruth (née Allen); together they built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was the guiding light and deeply loved father of Catherine (Stephen Quinn), Jennifer (Troy Berry), Margaret (Rodney Lobb) and Andrew (Tiffany Smith). As a grandfather, he took immense pride in his grandchildren sharing his warmth, gentle humor and abundance of treats be it a peppermint candy, a piece of gum or an ice cream with each one of them, Harrison, Riley, Jorja, Tegan, Grayson, Ruthie, Charlotte, Maya, William and Evelyn. Predeceased by his parents William Neil Fraser and Mary Olive (nee McIlwain and brother Neil (Sylvia). He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters in law Malcolm (Jean), Gordon (late Sandra), and Alastair and fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Born and raised on Kingsbrae Farm is where David’s love for animals grew. From the cows in the field to the horses in the barn, it was the family farm dogs who held the most special place in his heart. His loyal companion Sadie will miss being by his side. A man of quiet strength and generous spirit, David touched the lives of many through his kindness, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a well-timed joke, enjoying a cup of coffee with
friends at Herbs or being a grandpa chauffeur, he gave his time and heart without hesitation. From his involvement in athletics, agriculture and the church; David lived a life of
meaningful action and compassion. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered every day by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at the Hawkesbury General Hospital and the Ottawa Civic and General Hospital for their exceptional care and
kindness.
