Obituary of Verna June Scott
Mrs. Verna June Scott (nee Young) passed away peacefully in Hawkesbury on Saturday, February 15th at 101 years young. Verna was born on June 23rd, 1923, in Avoca, Québec to parents Edward Young and Mable Bates. She was the last surviving child and was predeceased by her sisters Susan, Greta, Phyllis, Mabel and Isla as well as her brothers Burton, Cecil, Gordon and Mason. She was married to the late Bill Scott. Verna will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews Alton (Cyndi), Steve (Val) Scott (Sacha) Craig (Carine) Sara (Kassim) Jeff (Ariana) Verna will be missed by her sister-in-law Joyce, her nieces Sheila, and Audrey and her dear friend Coraline.
Verna lived a happy energetic life, golfing, curling and socializing. When she bought her car named Jenny, it had to be a Wednesday car, any other day was unacceptable.
The family would like to thank the staff from the Prescott-Russell Residence for the excellent care and attention they gave to Verna throughout her years there.
For those who wish, a donation to Friends of Feral Cats Hawkesbury would be greatly appreciated by Verna who was well known for her love of animals.
A Tree of Remembrance in Verna's honour will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest, in Vankleek Hill.
