Condolences
Miss Kingsbury was my English teacher in Grade 12 and Grade 13 at Brookfield High School. She was a powerful influence on my life. I did not enjoy high school and in my private heart I did not trust most teachers, but she was a true professional who took a deep interest in the subject matter and treated students with respect. I learned to love literature in her class. Later in life, I went back to university to study English literature and became a Language Arts teacher. I have had a nice life and a great career and I do not believe I would have followed this path if I had not had the good luck to have Miss Kingsbury as a teacher. I was thinking of her this week and did a search to see how she was doing. I was sorry to learn that she had passed. When I think of her, I still feel positive emotion after all these years. I would like to express my (late) condolences to her loved ones.

" Remembering a cherished friendship"
I remember her well from Almonte High School. RIP Joy.
Dear Ann:
I was sorry to hear about Joy. My first trip to Montreal was with you and Joy in her little car so many years ago.
I hope that God's Love and Strength are with you in this sad time.
Love,
Dorothy
Joy was my grade 13 English teacher at Woodroffe in 1968. She was an encouraging, thoughtful and empathetic teacher who challenged us with the likes of James Joyce. I had the pleasure of speaking to her at the Woodroffe Reunion in 2010. I wish her well on her journey in the spirit world.

I was a volunteer driver at Western Ottawa Community Resource Center for 10 years. I first had the pleasure of driving Joy in July of 2015; our last trip together was in May 2016. We had some great conversations during the numerous drives we took. I thoroughly enjoyed being her chauffeur of choice. My condolences to her family and friends on the passing of a fine lady...
As a valuable and trusted colleague at Woodroffe, Joy will be sadly missed by students and staff. Her genuineness, willlingness to help were matched only by her happy disposition and cheerfulness. Joy was an outstanding teacher who knew how to challenge her pupils. Her command of her subject matter was matched only by her keen and vivid delivery in the classroom.
I am truly sorry that Joy has departed this earth but she leaves it richer because of her many contributions.
Mike
